Over One Hundred Pounds of Pesticides Safely Disposed Of

Thurston County-More than 100 pounds of unwanted pesticides were collected and safely disposed of from the East Bay Drive Neighborhood.  Residents in this neighborhood are part of the Pesticide-Free Model Neighborhood Project and have committed to gardening, landscaping, and lawn care without the use of pesticides for one year. Least-toxic products are provided to the neighborhood to replace the products disposed of.

Eleven households participated in the collection and disposed of products such as; 2,4-D, dicamba, glyphosphate, diazinon, and malathion.

HazoHouse is a place where every Thurston County resident can take their unwanted pesticides for safe disposal.  For more information about least-toxic gardening, HazoHouse, or the pesticide-free model neighborhood, please contact Thurston County Public Health and Social Services Environmental Health Division at (360) 754-4111.  Every neighborhood can be a pesticide-free neighborhood!
