COMMISSION VACANCY
The
Thurston County Board of Commissioners is seeking candidates to fill a vacant
position on the Civil Service Commission.
The Civil Service Commission administers the hiring system for the
county sheriff’s office, maintains the sheriff office’s classification
system, and investigates and resolves appeals.
The
commission consists of three members that serve six-year terms without
compensation. The commission holds
a monthly public meeting that averages 45 to 90 minutes.
Candidates
must be citizens of the United States, must have resided in Thurston County
for two years immediately preceding appointment, and be a registered voter.
A commissioner cannot hold a salaried public office or be employed by
Thurston
County
during his or her tenure. Law
enforcement experience is not needed. Interested
parties must submit a letter of interest and a resume by November 30, 2006 to:
