Dispatcher Receives State Award
Olympia- Imagine: Your work phone
rings. You answer it to hear a female screaming into the phone “ my baby is
choking”. Would you be able to remain calm enough to obtain all the
information needed and dispatch appropriate resources to get quick help to
that mother? CAPCOM dispatcher Jennifer Wood is a shining example of someone
who can and does so consistently in her day-to-day job.
The Washington State Association
of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) has awarded Thurston County
Dispatcher, Jennifer Wood, the 2004 Dispatcher of the Year Award for sustained
superior performance. Jennifer was nominated by her supervisors and peers
for her demonstrated skill and overall approach to the profession.
Jennifer has truly proven herself
to be an asset to the
Thurston
County
department, as well as the citizens of the county, with her superior skills,
her uncanny ability to impart information to others and her unwavering
compassion. Jennifer’s performance and contributions during the past year
were described by her supervisors and co-workers as “invaluable”, “one
of the best we have”, “instrumental”, and “talented”. Anyone who
knows Jennifer knows that none of these terms do her justice.
Jennifer’s consistently high
work performance, her dedication to teamwork, and her willingness to give 100%
make her the perfect recipient for this award. Thurston County Communications
Director Jim Quackenbush says the award reflects the recipient.
“We have all seen Jennifer’s dedication and selflessness on the
job. This statewide honor means
others in our profession also recognize her contribution to the good of the
community. This award is well
deserved.”
The Thurston County Department of
Communications is honored to be associated with such a high caliber
individual.
