Fall Recycle
Events a Success!
OLYMPIA
– More than 800 people recycled a variety of items earlier this month at
Thurston
County
’s “Community Recycle Days” events at South Sound Speedway and the Thurston County Fairgrounds.
Items recycled or re-used ranged from broken old console TVs to bikes
destined for new homes.
Items collected
included:
- 640
computer monitors, TVs and microwaves
- 380
pieces of office equipment (printers, copiers, CPUs)
- 300
electronic items (stereos, VCRs, DVDs)
- 185
refrigerators and freezers
- 265
washers, dryers and dishwashers
- 180
lawn mowers
- 1,160
yards of scrap metal
- 960
tires
Those who missed Community Recycle Days can still
recycle most of these items at the Thurston
County
Waste
and
Recovery
Center
(WARC) on
Hogum Bay Road
