Free Septic
Workshops
OLYMPIA
– Proper care and maintenance of your on-site septic system is one of the
most important ways to preserve your home’s value, protect public health,
and protect the environment. Most
septic systems need to be inspected and pumped every three to five years.
Since every household’s water use is different, work with a septic
professional to determine a pumping schedule that works for you.
Thurston County Public Health offers free septic
workshops to help you understand and care for your system.
The workshops provide information on how to locate your system, how to
choose a qualified pumper, how to inspect your tank yourself, which household
products can harm your system, and why additives don’t take the place of
pumping. With take-home materials,
a coupon for $10 off your next tank pumping, and an opportunity to get your
unique questions answered, people leave the workshops with the tools needed to
properly maintain their septic systems.
