Free
Septic Workshops
OLYMPIA –Thurston
County Public Health and Social Services is offering free workshops to help
residents understand and maintain their septic systems.
Workshops feature local septic experts who can answer questions such
as, “How often should my septic tank be pumped?” “What kind of toilet
paper is septic safe?” and
“Are septic tank additives necessary?”
Septic systems treat sewage and wastewater more effectively
when they are inspected and pumped every three to five years.
If septic systems are not pumped they will eventually fail, creating a
dangerous public health situation as well as potentially contaminating
drinking water.
The workshops are aimed at helping area homeowners protect
the life of their septic tanks and protecting the environment as a result.
Those interested can register
by calling the Environmental Health Division at (360) 754-4111; the TDD
line for the hearing impaired is 754-2933.
