2006 Garden Rhapsodies A Success!
OLYMPIA
–
Thank you,
Thurston
County
, for helping to create another successful Garden Rhapsodies Tour!
The tenth annual tour drew nearly 600 people into local gardens to
learn about less-toxic gardening, water conservation and the benefits of
compost. Local gardeners,
musicians, artists and demonstrators donated hundreds of hours of their time
to help create this fun and educational community event.
Proceeds from the tour benefit The Master Gardener Foundation of
Thurston
County
, WSU Native Plant Salvage Project, and the Olympia Symphony Guild.
We are already searching out great gardens for next
year. Any size or style of garden
is considered, we ask only that Common Sense Gardening is used.
Common Sense Gardening or Integrated Pest Management indicates that
pesticides are used only as a last resort.
Instead of reaching for a product, common sense gardeners use pest and
disease prevention strategies and less water.
They can then relax, knowing that their gardens are kid and pet-safe.
If you garden to provide beauty, healthy food and flowers for your
family and neighborhood, common sense gardening is simply……..common sense!
