County
’s
8th Superior Court Judge Sworn In
OLYMPIA
–
A decade after the establishment of
Thurston
County
’s 7th Superior Court Judge position, the 8th judge to
take a new position is being sworn in today.
Anne Hirsch, a former court commissioner pro-tem in
Thurston
County
’s Family and Juvenile Court, will assume the new position in Superior
Court. She was chosen in the
November general election.
Court Administrator Marti Maxwell says Judge Hirsch
will hit the ground running. “As
you might imagine, case loads in Superior Court have increased dramatically
over the past 10 years. Having
Judge Hirsch aboard will help spread the workload around a bit and we are
really looking forward to working with her in the years to come.”
Judge Hirsch will begin work immediately.
The last new position was filled in 1996 when former
Deputy Prosecutor Gary Tabor was elected to the 7th Superior Court
seat.
Anne Hirsch’s swearing in will be held at 3
o’clock today in courtroom 129 in Building Two of the Thurston County
Courthouse, 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW in Olympia.
The honorable Mary E. Fairhurst, State Supreme Court Justice, will
administer the oath of office. The
public is welcome to attend.
