Thurston
County and Olympia Receive Housing Funds
OLYMPIA -- Representatives of the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) will attend the Thurston County Commission meeting
Monday (September 15th) to present funding allocations to the
county and the City of Olympia.
Assistant
Secretary, Steven B. Nesmith, in the Office of Congressional and
Intergovernmental Relations of HUD, located in Washington D.C. will
attend. Jack Peters, Director
of Planning and Community Development for HUD in Region X, Seattle will
also be at the ceremony. They
will be presenting awards to the Thurston County HOME Funding program and
the City of Olympia’s Community Development Block Grant program
Chris
Lowell, Executive Director of the Thurston County Housing Authority will
briefly explain the use of the county funding.
The County's first ever HOME
program award is approximately $1 million/year and will be used for low
income housing programs.
Olympia Mayor Pro Tem, Mark Foutch, will give a brief explanation
of city's plans for their grant funding.
The
grant funding ceremony will begin shortly after the commission meeting
begins at 9 AM the morning of the 15th.
The commission meetings are held in Room 280 of Building One of the
Thurston County Courthouse, 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, Olympia, WA. 98502.
