Meth Related
Workshop Set For Landlords
OLYMPIA
– Landlords
and property managers are invited to a special workshop to help them
understand methamphetamine related issues they may face.
As most people are aware, “mom and pop” labs to make meth can be
set up almost anywhere. Past
experience has shown that rental homes and apartments are frequently used to
manufacture this highly addictive illegal drug.
That means the very real possibility of explosion or fire.
It can also mean extreme contamination of the property from the toxic
chemicals used and expensive cleanup before the property can be rented again.
With those challenges in mind, the Thurston County
Methamphetamine Coalition and TOGETHER! are sponsoring a free workshop for
Landlords and Property Managers the evening of Tuesday, March 29th.
Those attending will hear presentations from the Thurston County
Sheriff’s Office Street Enforcement Team and Thurston County Environmental
Health. Information presented will
include-
ü
How to recognize a meth user.
ü
What ingredients go into the manufacture of meth.
ü
What a lab might look like if it is set up on your
property.
ü
How to work with law enforcement agencies if you have a
problem.
ü
What goes into cleanup of your property if you discover
a lab.
This free workshop is set to run from 6 to 8 the
evening of Tuesday, March 29th at the
Worthington
Center
at
Saint Martin
’s College in Lacey,
5300 Pacific Avenue Southeast
. Seating is limited so please call
Kathy Raettig, 360-493-2230 ext. 16 for a reservation.
