Meth Related
Training Offered to Hotel/Motel Managers
OLYMPIA
– Hotel and motel staff in
Thurston
County
are invited to a special free workshop to understand the
methamphetamine-related issues they may face.
As most people are aware, labs to make meth can be set up almost
anywhere. Past experience has
shown that hotels and motels are frequently used to manufacture this highly
addictive and destructive illegal drug. For
hotel and motel managers, this means the very real possibility of explosion or
fire, and the extreme contamination of property from the toxic chemicals used.
In addition to the danger to guests and employees, it can also mean
expensive clean up before the space can be occupied again.
With these challenges in mind, the Thurston County
Methamphetamine Coalition and TOGETHER! are sponsoring a free workshop for
Hotel and Motel Managers and staff on Wednesday, May 31st from
12:30-3:00pm at the
Worthington
Center
at
Saint Martin
’s College, 5300 Pacific Avenues SE, Lacey.
Those attending will hear presentations from the Thurston County
Sheriff’s Office Street Enforcement Team, WA State Department of Health, and
Thurston County Environmental Health. Lunch will be provided.
Topics will include-
- How
to recognize a meth user.
- What
ingredients go into the manufacture of methamphetamine.
- What
a lab might look like if it is set up at a hotel/motel.
- How
to work with law enforcement agencies if you have a problem.
- What
goes into the cleanup of your hotel or motel if you discover a lab.
Seating is limited, so please call Kathy at 360-493-2230
ext. 16 or email at kraettig@thurstonTOGETHER.org
for reservations or to answer your questions regarding the event.
