National Adoption Day Celebration, Thursday, November 19th

OLYMPIA Join us in celebrating adoption families in Thurston County .  Many committed individuals, families, government agencies, judges and programs have joined together to promote and ensure successful child placements. Several local families will publicly finalize adoption at this special celebration.

When:   Thursday, November 19, 2009, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Where:   Thurston County Family and Juvenile Court
2801 32nd Avenue SW , Tumwater Washington .

Jennifer and Robert Myrick will speak about their experience opening their home and hearts to four adoptive children whom they are raising with their birth son.  Jennifer Myrick is also a founder and Co-Chair of Capitol Kids Connection, a non-profit organization that helps support children in foster care.

Each year 100 adoptions are completed in Thurston County – stepparents, domestic partners, individuals and couples choosing to be life-long parents. These families make a real difference in the lives of children and the community as a whole. National Adoption Day is an excellent way to honor, support and promote adoption in our community.

An adoption ceremony will take place at 4:00 pm. Refreshments and socializing begins at 4:30 pm with activities to include Booker T. Bear and craft projects from the Hands on Children’s Museum.

The event is sponsored by Thurston County Superior Court’s Family and Juvenile Court , Washington State Department of Social and Health Services and the Thurston County Bar Association.
