Pesticide
treatment slated for county facility.
OLYMPIA – A problem with moisture ants will result in a pesticide
treatment at a Thurston County Office Building. The pesticide will be injected into the walls of one of the
buildings of the main Thurston County campus off of Lakeridge Drive in
Olympia. The facility is known as
Building Four of the campus and the address is 921 Lakeridge Dr. SW.
The application will take place the morning of Saturday, July 24th.
Paul Replogle of Thurston County Central Services says the chemical to
be used is Tempo 20 WP. “We
will be treating this infestation by injecting into the first floor wall on
the south side and along the perimeter of the building, also on the south
side. None of the chemical will
be released into the air.”
The infestation of the ants has been a challenge for county employees in
Building Four for the past few years. A
decision to use the pesticide was reached after considerable investigation and
study. The limited use of the
pesticide fits in with the goals of best management practices under the
county’s integrated pest management program.
