OLYMPIA
-- Dr. Dennis Embry, a nationally
recognized researcher and workshop presenter, will talk on the topic of
“Strategies for Preventing Addiction: Saving Our Future” on December 5th.
The workshop will be especially valuable for childcare workers and educators,
and all those who work for and with children. Participants in the training
will develop an awareness of how meth addiction and prescription drug abuse
affects children and families, and learn evidence-based strategies that have
been shown to make a positive impact on these problems. Dr. Embry’s work on
health, safety, substance abuse, violence and mental illness among children
has been featured in national media. He is also the author of more than 40
books and training materials for science—based prevention of children’s
injuries, parenting and family difficulties, violence, substance abuse and
mental health and on positive youth and child development. Dr Embry’s work
provides “powerful, proven and practical solutions.” His
workshop will demonstrate how these solutions can be implemented and these
ideas can help “not just individuals, but the whole community” for the
future.
