South
County
Meeting
OLYMPIA
–
South
Thurston
County
residents are invited to a
meeting with the Board of County Commissioners in mid-September.
This “Community Conversation” in
Rochester
is the first in a series of such meetings to be held in the rural parts of the
county. Subsequent meetings will
be held quarterly in Yelm,
Rainier
and Tenino/Bucoda.
Commissioner
Bob Macleod says the meetings are designed to allow the board to hear from
county residents in an informal setting. “We
want citizens in the southern part of the county to know that we are aware
that they may have issues that are different from folks in the more urbanized
areas. To that end, we hope to
hear from them about those issues, about their goals for the future and
whatever else they want to discuss”
Commissioners
will visit with those who attend the meeting in a small group setting to allow
for the free flow of conversation. There
will not be any presentations by county staff and Commissioners are not
seeking “testimony” from anyone on any particular subjects.
Issues that may be discussed include-
·
What do people
see for the future of south
Thurston
County
?
·
What programs
and services are, or should be, provided by the County?
·
What can County
government do to assist the rural cities and towns and their residents?
The “Community
Conversation” with the Board of
Thurston
County
Commissioners will be held at 6:30 the evening of Thursday, September 13th
at the Rochester High School Commons,
19800 Carper Rd SW
in
Rochester
. Those
seeking more information on the meeting can call the Commissioner’s office
at 360-786-5440.
