Public
Invited to Open House on Rural Rezoning
OLYMPIA
–
Thurston
County
will hold a public open house on Tuesday, May 29 to present the two Planning
Commission rural rezoning proposals and a new alternative to the rezoning
proposals. The open house will
begin at 5:30 p.m. at the
Worthington
Conference
Center
at
St. Martin
’s University (
5300 Pacific Ave. S.E.
in Lacey). Written comments will be accepted, but no testimony will be taken.
Staff presentations will be given regarding the various plans to provide a variety of land use densities in the
unincorporated areas in compliance with the state Growth Management Act. A
question and answer period will follow.
The
goal of the open house is to familiarize the public with the three proposals,
particularly the new alternative to rezoning, which will be considered by the
Board of County Commissioners at a July 2 public hearing. Following the public
hearing, the commissioners will hold work sessions to review the public
comments received and to proceed toward adoption. Information regarding the
proposals and the July public hearing will be posted to the rural rezoning
project website as it becomes available: http://www.co.thurston.wa.us/permitting/GMA/rural-rezoning.htm.
