Septic
Education Continues
OLYMPIA
– Septic systems have been in the news quite a bit lately, with the
impact of some systems on
Hood
Canal
and the
South Puget Sound
growing every day. Systems that
are not maintained properly end up costing much more than systems that are
maintained regularly. Repairs on
problems that go unchecked can be expensive.
In addition, leaking and failing systems have many adverse health and
environmental impacts.
Septic system maintenance requires a basic understanding of how the system
works and what kinds of actions to limit or avoid.
Property owners should also learn what products to avoid dumping into a
septic system and should maintain a record of scheduled inspections and
pumpings. To learn how to properly
maintain a septic system, people can attend a free workshop.
Those who attend one of the workshops can obtain take-home materials
and a coupon for $10 off their next septic system pumping.
The following workshops are from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and are free.
Please register in advance at (360) 754-4111 so that workshop sponsors
will know how many people to expect.
