Stormwater Pond
Workshop Set for Sept. 8
OLYMPIA
–Learn
how to maintain and inspect your neighborhood stormwater pond and meet
reporting requirements at a free
Thurston
County
workshop on Saturday, Sept. 8.
The workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at
Tumwater
City Hall
,
555 Israel Road S.W.
in Tumwater.
Participants will visit a stormwater pond and practice
filling out annual maintenance reports required by
Thurston
County
.
Most
residential developments built after 1985 have stormwater ponds and are
responsible for maintaining them. Stormwater ponds are engineered depressions
in the land where stormwater runoff gathers and either infiltrates into the
ground or flows onward to another body of water. Well-maintained ponds help
prevent pollution, flooding and erosion.
To register for the workshop,
call 754-3355 ext.6377.
