Thurston County Lab Coordinating with Mason County to Do Water Testing

OLYMPIA --  The Mason County Environmental Health Laboratory will no longer be testing drinking water for bacteria or nitrate after January 2009.

For those who need to test their well water for personal use or to meet requirements for a community well, Mason County Environmental Health has coordinated with Thurston County to continue to offer service through their laboratory.  Thurston County Environmental Health Laboratory is fully accredited by the Washington State Department of Ecology for total coliform, E.coli, fecal coliform, heterotrophic plate count, and nitrate analysis of drinking water.

Beginning in February 2009, samples brought to the Mason County Health Department at Bldg. #3, 426 W. Cedar will be picked up by Thurston County for testing.

Sample bottle pick up and drop off will be as follows:

Pick up sample bottles Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
Drop samples off Monday and Tuesday from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
Fee is $25 per sample (please enclose check with sample).

If you wish to submit a sample(s) Wednesday through Friday, you may bring it to the Thurston County Courthouse in Olympia . The address is 2000 Lakeridge Dr. SW, Olympia , Wash. 98502 . Please note that samples are accepted all day Wed. and Thurs. and Friday until noon.

Thurston County’s lab believes very strongly in customer service and states that they will make every effort to accommodate any special sampling needs you may have. If you need sample results faxed or phoned to you, they are happy to do that also.
