Thurston
County Lab Coordinating with Mason County to Do Water Testing
OLYMPIA
-- The Mason County Environmental
Health Laboratory will no longer be testing drinking water for bacteria or
nitrate after January 2009.
For those who need to test their well water for personal
use or to meet requirements for a community well, Mason County Environmental
Health has coordinated with Thurston County to continue to offer service
through their laboratory. Thurston
County Environmental Health Laboratory is fully accredited by the Washington
State Department of Ecology for total coliform, E.coli, fecal coliform,
heterotrophic plate count, and nitrate analysis of drinking water.
Beginning in February 2009, samples brought to the Mason
County Health Department at Bldg. #3, 426 W. Cedar will be picked up by
Thurston County for testing.
Sample bottle pick up and drop
off will be as follows:
Pick up sample bottles Monday
through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
Drop samples off Monday and Tuesday from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
Fee is $25 per sample (please enclose check with sample).
If you wish to submit a sample(s) Wednesday through Friday, you may bring it
to the

County
Courthouse in

. Please note that samples are accepted all day Wed. and Thurs. and Friday
until noon.
Thurston County’s lab believes very strongly in
customer service and states that they will make every effort to accommodate
any special sampling needs you may have. If you need sample results faxed or
phoned to you, they are happy to do that also.
