Storm and Surface Water Utility
seeks volunteers for advisory board
OLYMPIA
– The Thurston
County Storm and Surface Water Utility is seeking volunteers to serve on its
citizen advisory board. Seven positions are open: four voting positions for
residents who live within the utility rate boundary, and three non-voting
positions for residents who live outside the boundary.
Advisory
board members are appointed by county commissioners. The positions are open only to residents who live in unincorporated
Thurston
County
, meaning outside of city limits.
The
Thurston County Storm and Surface Water Utility is a ratepayer-financed
program that works to curb problems caused by stormwater runoff and high
ground water levels, including flooding, pollution and erosion. The advisory
board meets every-other-month and makes
recommendations to staff and
Thurston
County
commissioners on issues such as construction plans, rates,
budgets, annual work programs, and policy proposals.
