THURSTON
COUNTY EXPANDS WATER SAMPLING PROGRAM
OLYMPIA – Water system operators in Thurston
County may now find it easier to have the county test water samples.
Up until now, water samples could only be dropped off for testing at
the Thurston County Courthouse on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of any week.
Now, samples can be dropped off all day Thursday as well and on Friday
until noon. Biologist Mike Clark
says, “We realize that it may be easier for some folks to get to the
courthouse later in the week and the additional hours may accommodate their
schedules a bit better.”
In addition to the extra days, county residents
can now also pick up sample bottles or drop off their water samples at the new
Thurston County Health Department building at 412 Lilly Road across from Saint
Peter Hospital. They can be
dropped of there Monday through Thursday before noon. Testing usually takes
one to three days and the results are mailed out after completion.
Water samples can also be left for pickup up from
the R.O.O.F. Community Center in Rochester, the Rainier City Shop and Yelm and
Tenino city halls before noon every Tuesday.
E. P. A. certified test results can be made
available within 24 hours by request. Available tests and fees are:
·
Coliform, Fecal Coliform and E.Coli in drinking water- $18.00
·
Fecal Coliform analysis of surface water-$20.00
·
Nitrate testing- $15.00
