Maytown Moratorium

The Board of County Commissioners held a public hearing on March 30, 2010  to take comment on the renewal of Ordinance No. 14046. The moratorium was enacted on April 15, 2008 in response to the South Sound Logistics Center (SSLC). The moratorium prohibits any new uses on Assessors Tax Parcels numbered 12602300200 and 12602340100 zoned Rural Resource Industrial. This ordinance was renewed on September 15, 2009, effective October 15, 2009.

Background Timeline

• April 15, 2008, Thurston County approved Ordinance No. 14046 which placed a moratorium on new uses for the portions of Assessors Parcel Numbers 12602340100 and 12602300200 which are zoned Rural Resource Industrial (RRI).
• June 2, 2008, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) held a public hearing on the moratorium approved with Ordinance No. 14046. At the hearing, the Board approved Resolution 14074 which adopted findings of fact to support Ordinance 14046.
• September 29, 2008 the Board approved Ordinance No. 14182 after a public hearing. This extended the moratorium another six months.
• March 24, 2009 the Board approved Ordinance No. 14211 after a public hearing, which extended the moratorium another six months.
• September 15, 2009 the Board approved Ordinance No. 14278 after a public hearing, which becomes effective on October 15, 2009, and extends the moratorium another six months.
