DRAFT Shoreline Master Program Chapter 19.100-700 designation report cover

The following draft chapters are the basis for Thurston County's Shoreline Master Program (SMP) -- a combined planning and regulatory document that contains policies, goals, and specific land-use regulations for shorelines. The program includes marine shorelines, rivers with a flow greater or equal than 20 cubic feet per second, lakes 20 acres or larger, upland areas within 200 feet of these water bodies, and the floodplains and wetlands associated with these shorelines. Thurston County is starting the Planning Commission review process looking at the information in the draft SMP chapters. Some of the appendices, such as the Shoreline Restoration Plan, are still under development, but ultimately will be combined with the SMP chapters, Inventory and Characterization Report, and the Shoreline Environment Designation Report, for a complete Thurston County SMP document.

DRAFT Shoreline Inventory and Characterization Report

shoreline plan coverThe Shoreline Inventory and Characterization Report is the foundation for the Shoreline Master Program (SMP) and is developed using a scientific approach. The report serves as a snapshot of current conditions and provides a baseline for tracking the "no net loss of ecological functions" provision required by Ecology's SMP Guidelines.
