Shawn Myers was
appointed Thurston County Treasurer on May 11,
2010 by the Thurston County Commissioners and then
was elected by the voters in November 2010.
Shawn is not new to
the Treasurer’s Office. She began her public
service career in 1986 for Thurston County
Treasurer Harris Hunter and spent 19 years working
in virtually every aspect of the Treasurer’s
Office. She served her last 5 years, from
2000-2005, as Chief Deputy Treasurer responsible
for managing the cash and investments for the
County and junior taxing districts, as well as
managing office staff. She left in 2005 to become
the Controller/Vice President for a community bank
and in 2008 accepted a position with the
Washington State Treasurer’s Office as Cash Flow
Manager.
