Statement
For:
Without a Levy Lid Lift, District Expenses Will Exceed Revenue
in 2003.
I-747
limits tax revenue growth to 1% annually. Historically, District
expenses have increased an average of 6% yearly. To secure funding
for basic operations and maintain the current service level,
a levy lid lift is needed. The District’s budget for 2002 is
$163,951.00 less than in 1998. Through restructuring, tax dollars
have been maximized to maintain service levels. Funding for
apparatus replacement, facility improvements and the District’s
reserve account has been impossible. Alternatives to service
level reductions have been exhausted. Without approval of the
levy lid increase, the District will have a budget deficit that
will result in significant changes in our ability to provide
emergency services.
Funds
Will Be Used To Support Basic Operations and Maintain Staffing.
Funds will be used for basic operational expenses required
to maintain 24-hour a day, seven day a week staffing at the
headquarters and Cooper Point Road stations, support resident
programs at the Summit Lake and 36th Avenue stations and support
the volunteer program.
The
Levy Lid Lift Cost is $11.00 per $100,000.00 of Assessed Value.
Property
owners in the District currently pay $1.39 for each $1000.00
of assessed value. The levy lid will raise the rate to $1.50
for each $1000.00 of assessed value. A homeowner, owning property
valued at $100,000.00, will pay $11.00 more a year to support
emergency medical and fire suppression services, provided by
the fire department.
Your
Yes Vote Will Assure Service Levels are Maintained.
Thurston
County Fire District 9 (McLane) is committed to providing quality
fire protection and emergency medical services. Your “yes” vote
will provide funding for basic operational expenses so we can
continue to quickly and effectively serve you.
