Fire Protection District No. 12 (Tenino) - Fire Commissioner, Position No. 3

Fire Protection Districts & Regional Fire Authorities (RFA) - Fire protection districts and RFA’s are formed to provide fire prevention services, fire suppression, emergency medical services, and the protection of life and property in the county. Administrative authority for the districts results from decisions made by a board of elected fire commissioners. The board of fire commissioners has the authority to hire and appoint employees as well as administer all aspects of the district. The board is required to hold regular monthly meetings. Fire protection districts levy regular property taxes to provide services to the public. Additionally, with voter approval, the board may issue bonds and make excess levies for specific purposes. The voters elect commissioners to staggered six-year terms. The nonpartisan commissioners receive no regular salary, but may choose to receive nominal compensation for attending meetings.

All positions are nonpartisan.

Only voters residing within the Tenino Fire District will vote on this position.
Statements are written by the candidates, who are solely responsible for the contents therein.

As a resident of Thurston County Fire District 12 for 32 years and a Volunteer Firefighter for the district and our community for 23 ½ years I have a determination to give to our community as it has given to my family. I am proud of the well trained, safety conscious, compassionate Volunteers who serve our district. As a Commissioner I have been able to support these fine individuals with a balanced budget using the $1.50 per thousand assessment levy. We are mindful of our public and, their own financial challenges. I come to you my neighbors and friends to vote for me to continue as the fire commissioner at District 12, Position 3.

If I were to be elected for this position I would bring a new voice and fresh perspective within the board of fire commissioners. I have lived in this community for 4.5 years and have 11 years of experience in the fire service, 7 years as a professional firefighter. My motivation is to influence progressive decision making within your fire department while still maintaining a sustainable budget. If you would like to see this change for Fire District 12, I would be honored for the opportunity to serve our community and the Tenino Fire Department.
