Fire Protection District No. 3 (Lacey) - Fire Commissioner, Position No. 2

Fire Protection Districts & Regional Fire Authorities (RFA) - Fire protection districts and RFA’s are formed to provide fire prevention services, fire suppression, emergency medical services, and the protection of life and property in the county. Administrative authority for the districts results from decisions made by a board of elected fire commissioners. The board of fire commissioners has the authority to hire and appoint employees as well as administer all aspects of the district. The board is required to hold regular monthly meetings. Fire protection districts levy regular property taxes to provide services to the public. Additionally, with voter approval, the board may issue bonds and make excess levies for specific purposes. The voters elect commissioners to staggered six-year terms. The nonpartisan commissioners receive no regular salary, but may choose to receive nominal compensation for attending meetings.

All positions are nonpartisan.

Only voters residing within the Lacey Fire District will vote on this position.
Statements are written by the candidates, who are solely responsible for the contents therein.

Thanks for taking time to read this statement. For more about how I hope to serve our community, please visit www.VoteForDan.com and explore my website.

My previous service as a leader includes: military, government, community, non-profit, and corporate experience. I have a degree from The Evergreen State College, which includes studies in accounting, public administration, computer science, and business administration. After leaving the Army, I worked at the Washington State Emergency Management Division. I was also a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician in the Air Force Reserves. Currently, I serve as an elected member (and Treasurer) of the Thurston Conservation District, Board of Supervisors.

I offer my service with the specific goals of seeking ways to preserve or expand services while avoiding levy increases; finding alternatives to sending fire crews to
non-emergency medical calls; and providing impartial union negotiations. I would be honored to serve you as a Fire Commissioner.

Dennis Jones

In 1989 I started my career as a Firefighter/EMT. After nearly 25 years as a firefighter I know how vitally important fire departments are to the communities they serve.

I have lived in Thurston County since 1987. I served as President of the Woodard Glen Neighborhood Association. I have been a City of Lacey resident since 2002.

I want to take all that I have learned and experienced over my nearly 25 years in the fire service to help the citizens of Fire District 3. I want to make sure that all fire department services are optimized and efficient to meet the needs of every citizen.

My technical knowledge and expertise will allow me to help navigate the future challenges of a dynamic, growing and diversified Fire District 3.
