Griffin School District No. 324 - School Board Director, Position No. 4

School Districts - Thurston County is divided into nine separate school districts, each governed by a five-member board. The board’s responsibilities include: budget, policy development, curriculum approval, planning, and communications. School board directors delegate authority for day-to-day functions to professional staff; however, they may never delegate ultimate responsibility. Board members are elected in a nonpartisan general election by voters within that school district. They receive no salary. A board may approve a per diem compensation for its members for attending board meetings. In most districts, candidates must reside in the subdistrict for which they are seeking office. All candidates are elected by the voters of the entire school district.

All school district positions are nonpartisan.

Only voters residing within the Griffin School District will vote on this position.
Statements are written by the candidates, who are solely responsible for the contents therein.

Ever since moving into the Griffin school district eight years ago, I am constantly reminded how fortunate my family is to live in such a welcoming community. Griffin remains a place where one can find a sense of belonging. I believe this exists, at least in part, because of our unique one-school district offering kindergarten through 8th grade. This K-8 format allows for greater teaching continuity and familiarity with our kids by our teachers, as well as a single place for the entire community to come and connect with one another.

As an attorney, state government affairs manager, and father of three kids attending Griffin, I am committed to ensuring the district continues to benefit us all, is sustainable long-term, and remains a place where we and our kids can come, meet, grow and learn. Thank you for your consideration.

Ballots will begin arriving October 17, 2013. If you have not received your ballot by October 24,
