Rainier School District No. 307 - School Board Director, District No. 4

School Districts - Thurston County is divided into nine separate school districts, each governed by a five-member board. The board’s responsibilities include: budget, policy development, curriculum approval, planning, and communications. School board directors delegate authority for day-to-day functions to professional staff; however, they may never delegate ultimate responsibility. Board members are elected in a nonpartisan general election by voters within that school district. They receive no salary. A board may approve a per diem compensation for its members for attending board meetings. In most districts, candidates must reside in the subdistrict for which they are seeking office. All candidates are elected by the voters of the entire school district.

All school district positions are nonpartisan.

Only voters residing within the Rainier School District will vote on this position.
Statements are written by the candidates, who are solely responsible for the contents therein.

Dear Voters,

My name is Kathi Jo Moore, my husband Eric and I have lived in the Rainier area for 17+ years and have two daughters ages 16 and 13 who attend Rainier High and Rainier Middle Schools. In my time on the board we have adopted the School House Model, been through budget cuts, wrapped up a major construction project, and successfully passed our school levy among countless other rewarding experiences.

I would like to continue to be a part of making Rainier School District one of the best in the state not only by making fiscally responsible decisions for our district but also in helping our schools continue to graduate well educated, well prepared, kids to start on the next leg of their journey.

I truly enjoy being on the Rainier School Board and love the fact that we are doing great things for kids.

Ballots will begin arriving October 17, 2013. If you have not received your ballot by October 24,
