Approval of the Minutes of May 3, 1999

Commissioner Oberquell MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. Commissioner O'Sullivan SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED.

Audience Reports and Requests

There were no audience reports or requests.

Correspondence

Pat Libbey introduced a letter from Jennifer Tebaldi, Director of the Office of Shellfish Programs with the Washington State Department of Health (DOH). The purpose of the letter was to notify the Department that DOH has completed the initial classification of a recreational shellfish harvest beach, and provide a report.

Mr. Libbey also presented a letter from the Pacific Coast Oyster Growers Association concerning the potential of the Henderson Inlet Watershed being downgraded and designated as an "area of special concern".

Reproductive Health Task Force Final Report and Recommendations

Sherri McDonald provided a brief introduction of the Reproductive Health Task Force Final Report and Recommendations. Ms. McDonald introduced staff and Task Force members present at the meeting. Cynthia Walker, Co-Chair, provided background information and reviewed the specific recommendations and implementation steps. The Board asked staff to bring back suggestions for broadening the Family Planning Advisory Committee. Board Members acknowledged the work done by the Task Force. When discussion was complete, Commissioner Oberquell MOVED, BASED ON THE ASSURANCE OF THE DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR THAT THIS WILL NOT INCLUDE INCREASES IN FUNDING FROM THE GENERAL FUND, TO SUPPORT THE FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH TASK FORCE. Commissioner O'Sullivan SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED.

There was no Health Officer's Report.

Work Session - Operation and Maintenance Program

A work session was held to further discuss proposed changes to Articles I and IV of the Thurston County Sanitary code, which would change the Operation and Maintenance Program for Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems.

Upon reconvening, Commissioner Oberquell MOVED TO ADOPT BOARD OF HEALTH RESOLUTION H-1-99, WITH REVISIONS, WITH AN IMPLEMENTATION DATE OF JUNE 1, 1999, OR THE DATE OF APPROVAL BY THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, IF AFTER THAT DATE. Commissioner O'Sullivan SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED.
