Commissioner Wilson presented a letter from Bronson Country Beach Club to Bob Mead acknowledging the work he did helping determine the location of their new well.
Interagency Work Order Amendment with Dshs for Early Intervention Program
Pat Libbey explained that this Amendment is for the Early Intervention Program, which provides in-home services to families with babies and young children at risk of child abuse and neglect. The Amendment extends the performance period another year. Commissioner O’Sullivan MOVED TO APPROVE THE INTERAGENCY WORK ORDER AMENDMENT WITH DSHS FOR THE EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,104 AND AUTHORIZE THE DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE THE AMENDMENT. Commissioner Wilson SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED.
Consolidated Contract Amendment No. 2
Mr. Libbey indicated that this amendment provides additional funding in the Shellfish Program, Family Planning/Surgical and Vasectomy programs, Local Capacity Development Fund program, and also changes the time period in the Infant/Toddler Initiative program. Commissioner O’Sullivan MOVED TO APPROVE AND EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE CONSOLIDATED CONTRACT NO. C08628 WITH WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN THE AMOUNT OF $17,255. Commissioner Wilson SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED.
Mr. Libbey announced the appointment of Dennis Braddock as the new Secretary of the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.
It was reported that staff will be working with the Refugee and Immigrant Services Center talking to people out on the beaches in shellfish areas that are experiencing closures. There was a brief discussion in signage being upgraded/updated.
It was stated that although there is greatly increased congestion in the downtown are the clinic will be open for services during the week of Lakefair and a security company will be hired to assure parking space availability for clients and visitors to the downtown health building.
Commissioner O’Sullivan initiated discussion concerning Coordinated Prevention Grant applications being submitted by both the Water and Waste Management and Public Health Departments. Mr. Libbey agreed to arrange for a copy of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee meeting tape and/or a more detailed account of the conversation held concerning this issue.
Health Officer's Report
Dr. Diana Yu reported an increase in reports of diarrheal and gastroenteritis, and also more bat encounters.
