Yvonne L. Pettus, Chief Deputy Clerk
Yvonne was appointed Chief Deputy Clerk in October 2012 after 29 years working in the judicial branch of government. She began her career at the California Administrative Office of the Courts as a Court Management Analyst for two years. Yvonne then moved back to Washington where she worked for the Washington State Administrative Office of the Courts in various capacities for 20 years. Prior to coming to the Thurston County Clerk’s Office, she was the Court Administrator for Tacoma Municipal Court for seven years.
Yvonne has made presentations on various topics to state and national conferences, including Trial Court Performance Standards, courts of limited jurisdiction, ethics, and legislation. She has published an article in the Court Manager on Trial Court Performance Standards and a book review in the Justice System Journal.
Yvonne graduated from Eastern Washington University with a BA in Sociology. She earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a certificate in Judicial Administration from the University of Southern California.
Yvonne is a member of the National Association of Court Management (NACM) and the American Judicature Society. She has served on the Supreme Court’s Gender and Justice Commission, the Board for Judicial Administration Best Practices Committee, the Washington State Center for Court Research Advisory Board, and chair of the District and Municipal Court Management Association Legislative Committee.
Yvonne has lived in Thurston County for 27 years. Her community activities include service on the Board and as Board President of the Thurston-Mason County Crisis Clinic, YMCA golf coach, and assistant coach of a Bambino baseball team.
