The County Clerk: is an elected official provided by the Washington State Constitution with specific and special duties assigned by statute and court rules. These duties are administrative in nature and in some instances, quasi-judicial. The Clerk is best characterized as the administrative and financial officer of the superior court in the county. Because of its close relationship to the superior courts, the Clerk's Office is a highly technical office.
More information on the County Clerk can be found along the top bar of any page.
The Chief Deputy: is appointed by the elected
County Clerk to serve as an administrator, managing departments within the office under the direction of the County Clerk and
oversees preparation of Clerk's Office annual budget.
Organization:
The Clerk's office organization consists of the County Clerk, Chief Deputy Clerk, Managers and staff. The team members are located in close physical proximity to each other enabling group discussion, problem solving and the ability to assist each other when needed. This also provides a better opportunity to respond to telephone inquiries.
Teams are responsible for making sure that at least one team member is present at all times to answer telephone
and counter inquiries. However, if you are attempting to contact someone in the
office and you receive voice mail, you have the option of either pressing "0" to get our receptionist or dialing the
Manager of that team for assistance. If no one is available in that team (and sometimes this happens) leave a voice mail message with your name, telephone number, case number, or question, and someone will return your call as soon as possible.
