Valve stems must be removed from cylinders and preferably a hole punched in the cylinders.

The City of Olympia operates a Saturday Drop-Off Site on Eastside Street in Olympia from March through mid-November. The site accepts yard waste and scrap metal. For rates and hours, visit the City of Olympia's website.

Thurston County HazoHouse

HazoHouse accepts all propane tanks equal to or smaller than the standard gas grill tank. This includes: Standard 20 lb barbecue tanks; the compact camp stove propane canisters, including, but not limited to, the green Coleman-branded single-use fuel canisters; and small, narrow propane cylinders used by plumbers and other contractors, including, but not limited to, the Bernz-O-Matic-branded single-use gas cylinders (propane, MAPP gas, and other gas combinations). There is no need to remove the valve. There is a limit of 3 tanks per residential customer per day.

HazoHouse is open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Entrance gates close at 4:45. Be sure to keep products in original containers. Never mix different products. Make sure items are well sealed, lids tight, placed in leak-proof tub or box with absorbent material (like newspaper) to prevent spills. Transport products away from children, pets, and vehicle passenger compartments. For more information, visit the HazoHouse website.
