Marriage Ceremony Request

Thurston County District Court Judges are empowered to perform marriage ceremonies under the laws of the State of Washington.  Marriage ceremonies are performed at Thurston County District Court Monday through Friday at 5:00 p.m.  All members of the wedding party should arrive at Thurston County District Court by 4:45 of the date of the wedding.  Marriage ceremonies can also be held on weekends by special appointment.

The following items are required to be submitted to Thurston County District Court 24 hours before the date of the wedding:

  • Marriage License
    • The license has a three day waiting period before it is valid for use.  For more information on how to obtain a marriage license contact the Thurston County Auditor's Office or call 360-786-5405.
  • Fees
    • $50 cash for ceremonies performed at Thurston County District Court Monday through Friday
    • $150 for weekend ceremonies performed at Thurston County District Court.
    • $200 minimum for weekend ceremonies at locations other than Thurston County District Court.  This fee increases with distance and time commitment involved.

Two witnesses must be present at the ceremony.
