Faith Groups Health Care Series

Several downtown Olympia faith groups are sponsoring a series of public forums about health care beginning Tuesday, January 19, 2010  with state Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler speaking and answering questions.

 

Series schedule:

Tuesday: Mike Kreidler

Jan. 19: Democratic legislative leaders Rep. Eileen Cody of Seattle and Sen. Karen Keiser of Kent

Jan. 26: Republican legislative leaders Sen. Linda Evans Parlette of Wenatchee and Rep. Doug Ericksen of Ferndale

Feb. 2: Professional panel including a physician, nurse, dentist and hospital specialist

Feb. 9: Insurance companies

Feb. 16: Steve Hill, administrator for the state Health Care Authority

Feb. 23: Dennis Mahar of the Area Agency on Aging, and Walt Bowen of the Washington Senior Lobby

The events run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at First Christian Church at Seventh Avenue and Franklin Street. The moderator is Don Carlson, a former Republican state senator from Vancouver who now lives in Thurston County and has organized forums during previous legislative sessions and campaign cycles.

Religious groups co-sponsoring the forums with First Christian Church are Interfaith Works, First Baptist Church, First United Church, Temple Beth Hatfiloh, St. Michael Catholic Church, St. John’s Episcopal Church, the United Methodist Church and a new evangelical church, Reality.
