The role of the Thurston County Animal Response Coaliton
(TCARC) is to promote education, safety, and disaster assistance planning to animal owners and animal / agriculture agencies, and to assist with evacuation, care and the
subsequent safe return of animals displaced by natural and man-made disasters.
The responsibilities and powers of TCARC shall extend to
the following functions:
Address problems and issues which by
their nature require coordinated planning, research,
information sharing, implementation and administration.
Undertake planning, exercise and
training activities which the membership agrees should be
Be a forum for cooperation and work
with local agencies to maintain pet-friendly disaster
Train all TCARC volunteers in Disaster
Animal Preparedness and Rescue.
Give presentations to agencies, organizations, schools and clubs about animal disaster
Help each member agency to prepare a
Continuity of Operations Plan/Business Continuity Plan as
well as stakeholder agencies when requested by the
Create and maintain a resource
Maintain at least one trained animal
response/rescue team and at least five veterinary members.
The TCARC meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
