SEPTIC PROBLEMS MAY OCCUR DUE TO EARTHQUAKE
This week’s earthquake may have caused problems for some septic systems in Thurston County. Residents can seek assistance from the county health department. There could be some warning signs if a septic system has been damaged, including:
q Backups or slow draining in household plumbing fixtures.
q Surfacing sewage on your property.
q Settling or movement of septic system components including tanks, pump chambers and drain fields.
q Pump chamber alarms coming on, or pumps running continuously.
q The odor of sewage.
Should residents experience any of the above, they can call Thurston County Environmental Health on Saturday, March 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 754-3360, or they can contact Health for information at (360) 754-4375 during regular workday hours, beginning Monday, March 5.
