John Leonard is a solo performer who
delivers a fine mix of acoustic rock,
alternative, country and blues. His
acoustic guitar, harp and vocals blend
harmoniously and the spectrum of his
song selection is diverse. John's
performance gives testimony of the love
he has for music and his dedication as a
songwriter.
John is influenced by an upbringing in
which having live music in the house was
the norm. He says of his experience
growing up -"My parents had a such great
appreciation for it (music) and it was
common for musicians and live music to
be in the house. I got bit by the music
bug at a young age and its venom has
spread a lifetime." Years after rocking
out his passion and playing in hard rock
bands the old school influence from his
parents jam parties resurfaces, adding
back in the raw country sound. John
Leonard has been writing songs since '79
and regularly introduces new original
songs to his set-list. He plays about a
50/50 mix of original and cover tunes, a
few of which include songs by Tom Petty,
Neil Young, Cake, Johnny Cash and Pearl
Jam. John performs regularly for
charities, beer festivals, fairs,
private parties, coffee shops and the
Olympia Eagles club.
As a military veteran, John Leonard has
a goal to incorporate his art with
charitable causes that help benefit
veterans, particularly the wounded. |
