Fair
Board Member.
A Fair Board Member is appointed by the Board of
County Commissioners and serves year round to plan and
coordinate the annual fair, advise the fair manager on
matters relating to the fair event, and assist the
various fair constituencies to ensure quality exhibits
and programs.
Seasonal
Positions
Department
Assistants: Assist
Fair Department Superintendents accept
and release exhibits, act as clerks to judges,
and display exhibits.
Hours would include up to two weeks prior to
fair, during fair, and two days after fair depending
upon availability.
Many volunteers needed in all departments.
Hosts
and Hostesses: Act
as a host to departments by directing fair goers to
exhibits, providing information about exhibits and
giving assistance as needed to the Departments.
Hours would include shifts during fair time only.
Contest
Helpers: Provide
assistance to organizer of contests; such as kids games,
pie and cake contests; and fair promotional contests.
Hours would include shifts during fair time only.
(This is an opportunity for both adults and
children)
Information
Booth:
Give directions, answer questions regarding the
fair, check out wheelchairs, check out PA equipment, and
sell fair merchandise.
Hours would include shifts during fair time only.
Gardener:
Act as gardener or assist gardener in the planting of flower boxes
and beds, watering plants, pruning, and weeding. Hours would begin in early spring and continue through
September.
Adopt
a Garden Plot:
Plan, plant with your plants, and keep weeded a
garden plot of your own.
Plans should be approved by the Fair Office.
Fair will water.
A sign indicating who is responsible for the plot
is encouraged. Sign
up at Fair Office.
(This is an opportunity for both adults and
children)
One
Who Likes to Paint:
Repainting
and/or touching up murals, animal characters, and signs
with paint provided by Fair.
Hours would be from early Spring to one week
prior to Fair.
Off-Season
Office Help: An
on-call position to help with bulk mailings, inventory,
Fair preparation material, telephone assistance,
bulletin board displays, manning fair booths at various
events, and customer service.
