This wonderful slide show was compiled by CASA staff (and photographer) Meg Cunningham. The slides are all from the 2011 National Adoption Day
that took place at the Thurston County Family and Juvenile Courthouse on November 17, 2011 and attended by close to 100 people.
9 children were adopted into 7 families, including 3 siblings who were adopted together by a single mother.
The ceremony was attended by families, professional staff from DSHS, CASA staff and volunteers, private and public sector attorneys, court staff,
and elected officials including Justice Sue Owens from the State Supreme Court. Food, beverages, flowers, family photos, art activities, books,
bears and more were donated by local businesses.
The day was the culmination of months of work by many volunteers (attorneys, DSHS staff, CASA staff, court staff and others) -- as shown in the
slide show, the day was filled with joy for the new families!
The Court was proud to have had a part in celebrating such a special day.
