Thurston County Family Law Guardians ad Litem (Title 26 RCW)

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years experience working with children and families or

  • JD (law degree) with at least 2 years experience practicing family law

and

  • Completion of an accredited Title 26 GAL training in Washington (additional domestic violence training may be required)

  • Mentoring approved by Thurston County or active GAL work in Washington during the past year

Applications may be submitted to Court Administration or the CASA Program Manager.

Court approval is required for placement on the Thurston County Registry.

The full state training curriculum is offered locally on a periodic basis. It was last offered in 2007.
