The Food Action Team is meeting during the middle and
late part of 2013 to develop a strategy and recommendations
on how best to improve the health of the Thurston County
community through food. A draft food strategy was presented
by Robert Coit on June 11, 2013 [see video below].
An example of the way food affects health includes
decreased risk of obesity and chronic diseases through an
increased consumption of fruits and vegetables. Access to
safe and healthy foods and an environment in which the
healthy choice is the easy choice also improve the potential
for a healthful diet, in turn leading to improved or
maintained good health.
