Home to more than 245,000 residents, Thurston County is 60 miles south of Seattle and 100 miles north of Portland, Oregon.

Public Hearing on Mineral Lands

The Thurston County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on February 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. to accept public comment on the draft regulations relating to the designation of mineral resource lands criteria as required by the Western Washington Growth Management Hearings Board Final Decision Order.

Disposal of Storm Related Debris

Thurston County residents, who have woody debris from the recent storms on their property, can drop it off at several locations. Beginning Wednesday, debris such as tree limbs can be dropped off free of charge.

Critical Areas Ordinance

The Planning Dept. is drafting updates to the Critical Areas Ordinance, which governs how land is developed in or near environmentally sensitive areas such as wetlands, rivers, frequently flooded areas and habitat areas.
