Home to more than 260,000 residents, Thurston County is 60 miles south of Seattle and 100 miles north of Portland, Oregon.

June 14 Public Hearing on Proposed On-Site Septic System Management Plan Update
A public hearing on the proposed Thurston County On-Site Septic System Management Plan Update will be held on June 14 at 5:30 p.m. in room 152, building 1 of the County Courthouse.
June 15 Public Hearing on Proposed Updates to the Development Code that Support Low Impact Development Practices
The Thurston County Planning Commission will host a public hearing on proposed updates to the county’s development code that support low impact development practices. The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, at 7 p.m. in Room 152 of Building 1 of the County Courthouse. An informational open house is scheduled prior to the start of the hearing, from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. in Room 280 – members of the public can come to learn about the proposed changes and ask questions of staff prior to giving comment at the hearing.
Paving Project Set for Highway 99
A popular stretch of Highway 99, from the Lewis County line to Tenino, will be the location of a major resurfacing project. The project calls for the repair of approximately 6 miles by grinding and repaving the degraded asphalt.
Thurston County Needs Citizen Volunteers for Special Service
Thurston County Commissioners invite county residents to serve on one of the many advisory bodies who provide advice, guidance and other services to the county through a wide variety of programs. Right now, there is a special need for volunteers for the county's Agriculture Advisory Committee and the Pest and Vegetation Management Committee.
Biotoxin causes shellfish harvest closure in Budd Inlet
A marine biotoxin that causes diarrhetic shellfish poison (DSP) has been detected at unsafe levels in shellfish in Budd Inlet in Thurston County. As a result, the Washington Department of Health and the Thurston County Public Health and Social Services Department have closed all of Budd Inlet to recreational shellfishing from inner Budd Inlet to Boston Harbor and the tip of Cooper Point.
