Q: How often are employment opportunities updated?
A: Employment opportunities are updated each Friday at midnight.
 
Q: May I submit an application or resume for a position that is not currently posted or to be considered for future employment?
A: No, we only accept application materials for positions that are currently posted. You may use the Job Interest Notification process to be notified of new job opportunities.
 
Q: Can I submit a blank application and let you determine which jobs I qualify for?
A: We do not match candidates to available positions. You must complete and submit an application for each position for which you are applying. Some employment opportunities require responses to supplemental questionnaires as part of the application package. Remember, if you are applying for multiple jobs simultaneously, you will need to complete a separate application package for each.

A: Yes, you need to submit a separate application package for each position.
 
Q: I am a contract employee with Thurston County. Do I qualify for an internal posting?
A: No, a “current employee” is defined as an individual who was paid by Thurston County in the most recent pay cycle.
 
Q: To whom do I direct my questions about an employment opportunity?

Q: How do I obtain more information about an employment opportunity?
A: You can view a complete copy of the job description under the Job Classifications section of our webpage. For additional questions and information, you may call the contact person listed on the employment opportunity.
 
Q: How can I check the status of my application?
A: You can call the contact person listed on the Employment Opportunity. Please keep in mind, due to the large number of applications received for each recruitment, it can take up to 30 days to screen through applications prior to the scheduling of interviews. Only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
 
Q: Why does the application ask for veterans’ preference?
A: If two individuals are equally qualified for a job, a veteran will be given preference when making the hiring decision.
 
Q: Am I automatically disqualified if I have a felony?
A: Not necessarily. It depends upon the type of felony and the job function and requirements of the hiring office or department.
