Detention Programs

 
Thurston County Juvenile Court offers programming to in-custody youth and youth attending the Day Detention School program. These classes are conducted year round and are designed to not only educate and inform the youth, but also teach vital skills needed for successful transition back into their home and community. These are the programs that are offered:
  • Victim Impact Awareness:
    • Sexual Assault
    • Child Abuse
    • Elder Awareness
    • Property Crimes
    • DUI
    • Domestic Violence
    • Teen Dating Violence
  • Anger Management (condensed version of the Anger Control Chain from WSART)
  • Teen Parenting
  • Sexual and Health Education
  • Nutrition
  • Bullying
  • How to Get a Job (complete a resume’ and attend an interview)
  • Communication Skills
  • Consequential Thinking and Thinking Errors
  • Autobiographies
  • Budgeting and Setting up a Household
  • Character Building
  • Civil Rights
  • Black History Month
  • Women’s History Month
  • Discrimination
  • Social Justice
  • Environmental Issues
  • Teen Issues (dating, bullying, STDs, safe sex, death and grief, DV, sexual assault, child abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, self-mutilation, suicide, teen pregnancy, bullying, discrimination, gender identity, family relationships, healthy dating relationships, eating disorders, gang violence)
