Meth Action Team
The Meth Action Team consists of a
diverse group of professionals, concerned citizens, and
community members that have a common goal - working together
to address methamphetamine and other drug use in Thurston
County.
In September of 2001, various Federal,
State, and local officials and agencies formed the Thurston
County Methamphetamine Coalition to share resources and
focus efforts to eradicate the menace of meth. Over the past
10 years, the Coalition has made great strides to make our
community a safer home.
In 2008, the Methamphetamine Coalition
became the Meth Action Team. The focus of the Meth Action
Team is to provide a collaborative response to the use of
meth and other drug use. While the local manufacturing of
meth has decreased, the use of meth has certainly not
followed a similar downward trend. Therefore please help us
to educate the community about the devastating effects of
meth and how they can get treatment help.
Over the last year as prescription drug
use has skyrocketed, the Meth Action Team has included that
as a focus as well. Washington State has among the highest
rates of non-medical use of prescription pain relievers in
the nation. For information on where to properly dispose of
your medications, please click here.
