Explanation of Terms

Presubmission Conference Requests:   Presubmission conferences are required for: plats, short plats, large-lot subdivisions, special-use permits (Hearing Examiner-approved only), new nonresidential (commercial) uses and change of use.

New Application Submittals: Land-use applications that may or may not require SEPA review or Hearings Examiner approval.

Notice of Land-Use Applications: In the case of Type 2 and Type 3 land-use applications, a notice is sent out to appropriate local and state agencies, tribes and property owners within 300 feet (if located within northern urban growth area) or 500 feet (if located within unincorporated Thurston County) of the project. This notice is sent out once the land-use application submittal is deemed complete.  This web page features those notifications. Type 2 applications are administrative applications that require SEPA review, and Type 3 applications are those that require Hearing Examiner review.  Click here for an explanation.
