Gateway Rotary Club President Tom Carroll recognized Thurston County Sheriff, John Snaza as an Honorary Member of Gateway Rotary Club.
Carroll praised Sheriff Snaza on his commitment to support community projects, his focus on public safety especially among the youth and his stewardship with the public funds allocated to his department.
During his tenure in the department, Snaza has performed many different roles including being assigned to the Air Operations Unit and Marine Services Unit, narcotics investigations, gang activity investigation and Commander of the multi-agency Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.
Honorary memberships are conveyed to individuals who have distinguished themselves by community service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals.
Sheriff John Snaza recently participated in a special event up north in King County called Chief for a Day 2012.
This event celebrates the lives of children who have been diagnosed with a chronic or life-threatening illness. Each child is designated "Chief for a Day" and is hosted by law enforcement leaders from around Puget Sound.
