The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team consists of 12 members from the Sheriff’s Office, Tumwater Police, Olympia Police and Lacey Police.
The Team responds to water related events such as drowning, submerged vehicles, underwater crime scenes, flood rescue, swift water rescue and rope rescues. The
Dive Team is trained in zero visibility diving, ice diving, helicopter operations, evidence recovery, ship hull search and high angle rescue. Our team averages 30 calls for service per year. The team is equipped with video and underwater communication equipment. A scanning sonar was recently purchased to assist the team in underwater searches in low visibility conditions. We also respond to assist other agencies when called upon.
